The German Cancer Research Center (Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum, DKFZ) in Heidelberg is Germany’s largest biomedical research institute and a member of the Helmholtz Association. In over 100 divisions and research groups, 3,000 employees (including 500 PhD students and 400 Postdocs) investigate the causes and mechanisms of cancer and develop novel tools for cancer diagnosis, treatment and prevention.

The DKFZ has an international and dynamic work environment and provides its scientists with access to state-of-the-art research facilities. With Harald zur Hausen (2008) and Stefan Hell (2014), two researchers of the DKFZ have been awarded the Nobel Prize.
